Professor FatShady Talks Trials Rising at E3 2018

At E3 2018, we had the opportunity to play a large number of different games. One of the most memorable experiences was trying out the large array of Ubisoft’s offerings, especially the multiplayer motorbike experience Trials Rising. We discussed the enticing nature of the upcoming game with YouTube channel University of Trials host and gaming expert Professor FatShady live at the event.

Innovation & Tech Today: Now, how did you get the name Professor FatShady?

Professor FatShady: It‘s a two-part story. The FatShady part. I used to do a musical parody. Basically I’d do lip syncs of Eminem songs, Slim Shady. I’m a larger version of him. FatShady kinda made sense. So, that was where that name came from. And then when I started University of Trials, which I’ll get to in a second, I kind of needed to be a bit more serious. So I’d just add Professor in the front.

I&T Today: What are some examples of parodies that you have done?

Professor FatShady: “Without Cheese,” as opposed to “Without Me.” I did one that was “Cleaning Out My Colon” instead of “Cleaning Out My Closet.”

I&T Today: We’re going to have to check those out. Are they still on YouTube?

Professor FatShady: They might be.

They are. Here’s one.

I&T Today: And speaking of, you are a YouTube personality as well. Correct?

Professor FatShady: Correct. I’ve got a channel called the University of Trials. Pretty much focused on Trials and gameplay. Very focused around that educational side, so I do tutorials and really just engage with the community, and give back to the games that I love.

I&T Today: Could you tell me a little bit about Trials Rising?

Professor FatShady: So Trials Rising is the new game being announced at E3, releasing February 2019, made by a Finnish game studio called Redlynx. And obviously the parent publisher is Ubisoft. So yeah that’s just being announced coming out on PC, Xbox One, PS4, and for the first time ever, a Trials game on Nintendo Switch.

I&T Today: Well I’ve just been playing the game a little bit. Every time you die pretty much, it’s your fault.

Professor FatShady: You died a lot. You died a lot.

I&T Today: I did not do too well at this game. Super fun though. It’s like a Let’s Player’s dream.

Professor FatShady: For the first time ever they’ve introduced a tandem bike. So, you’ve got a guy in the front, a guy on the back, so it’s a two player, local multiplayer mode, where each of you control about half of the gas and half of the leaning. So, you have to think about that. If you have two people playing in the opposite direction, nothing happens. So you’ve really got to work together to try to overcome some increasingly difficult obstacles.
