Untitled Goose Game Review: Annoying People Is Fun!

If you’ve spent any time on the internet lately and have a fondness for video games, you’ve likely heard of the bluntly titled Untitled Goose Game. And, just like most things that get popular these days, that is due to the simply massive amount of memes being generated about the experience.

The game itself has a pretty simple concept: you’re a goose looking to complete a list of seemingly simple tasks. It just so happens that most of those tasks involve annoying everyone around you, including groundskeepers, shopkeepers, and innocent children. And yes, it’s as extremely fun as it sounds. Let’s take a look at why everyone’s been honking about Untitled Goose Game

Love At First Honk

I must say, I greatly enjoyed my first moments with Untitled Goose Game. In mere minutes, I managed to sneak into a garden, steal a groundskeeper’s keys, and create complete chaos. One of the key controls in the game, honking, not only makes for hilariously obnoxious background noise, it also distracts the very humans you’re looking to annoy, giving this game a sort of “stealth” element. Still much more family friendly than Manhunt or Splinter Cell though, I must say.

A Thinking Man’s Goose Game

Untitled Goose Game definitely takes patience and brainpower. Throughout the game, you’re presented with fairly cryptic tasks such as “Get the Groundskeeper Wet” and “Have a Picnic.” Sounds easy, right? Well, it takes a bit of time to discover the way to lure the groundskeeper down to the river to get him wet or that you need to drag everything from a pumpkin to a radio onto the picnic blanket to have a picnic. OK, that might not sound like the most intense puzzle to you, but it had me scratching my head.

Untitled Review Conclusion

Needless to say, I really, really enjoyed Untitled Goose Game. The concept is fun, the art style is aesthetically pleasing, and I found myself laughing at the absurdity of controlling a goose stealing a young boy’s glasses and locking a groundskeeper out of his garden. I guess I’d compare it to the feeling of going for your first rampage in Grand Theft Auto, just with a slightly lower death toll.

Untitled Goose Game is available for Nintendo Switch, PC, and Mac.
