The Ultimate Active Outdoor Gift Guide – Spring 2022

It’s time to get outside and get moving. The days are getting longer and things are warming up everywhere, with possibly the exception of the Upper Peninsula, Michigan, but even way up there the warm weather is on the way.

As you get ready to get out and get going, we wanted to share some of the most interesting innovations we found to take your outdoor experience to the next level.

USWE Hajker 24 pack

The USWE Hajker 24 pack is anything but ordinary.

The Hacker 24 is a great adventure Daypack that’s weatherproof with a rolltop opening and plenty of smart storage solutions.

If you are headed out on a hike or a bike, the Hajker 24 is something to take a look at. Here’s why:

It features a Bounce-free No Dancing Monkey™ 2.1 harness system with integrated elastic straps that expand along with the chest during physical exertion, allowing a constant tight and compliant fit.

It hugs you like an octopus on steroids without feeling tight or constraining.

It’s got a place to hold your helmet. The waist belt on the lower part of the pack is detachable and can be used on its own, like a tricked-out fanny pack.

If you’re heading out for a longer hike or bike, it’s compatible with their 3-liter elite plug-and-play hydration bladder that keeps you hydrated; and doesn’t feel like you’re lugging a water bed on your back.

Evolv Tour XL Electric Scooter

From the country that brought the world Ryan Reynolds and Ryan Gosling, comes yet another triumph: the Evolv Tour XL electric scooter.

This isn’t your run-of-the-mill rent-a-scooter. The Evolv Tour XL is a machine made for enjoyment, transportation, and a whole lot of adrenaline.  This is technology and transportation blended together to get you from point A to point B in a quick, efficient, and fun manner.

It has a top speed of 28mph and a 31-mile range between charges. The dual disc brakes, shock absorbers for comfort, and LED headlight positioned low to the ground will help light up your path. The LED rear light travels along an acrylic tube to keep you safe at night.

It also features a crystal clear LED screen with different ride modes and a very responsive finger-throttle to keep you going.

We are working on a full review, but the long and the short of it is, this thing snaps!

Apple Watch SE

Heavy on the features, light on the price. Starting at $279, the Apple Watch SE has powerful features to help keep you connected, active, healthy, and safe. It has advanced sensors to track all the ways you move and measure your favorite workouts indoors and out.

You can swim with it on, track your runs, bike rides, and heart rate. In case of an emergency, it alerts the authorities and sends for help.

It’s 30% bigger than the Series 3 watch, and if you have an old Apple watch, you can trade it in for a credit of up to $170 towards a new watch.

Onean Manta Electric Jet Board

Yes, the world now has electric surfboards, and we are a better place for it.

It’s like a jet ski and a paddleboard got together at an after-party and this is the result – pure, electric fun on the water.

The Manta is the entry-level, cruising speed jet board offered by Onean, topping off at about 8mph, but the big battery lasts up to 6 hours.

Their Onean X board will go about 27mph, but the battery life is about 40 minutes. The good news is there are different offerings based on experience and need.

The best part of jet surfing is that you do not need to have previous experience in any watersport. You do need common sense and balance, but other than that, you can start on your stomach, move to your knees and then get up and get your surf on.

No need for waves, because you are making your own movement in lakes, oceans, and rivers. Where there’s water, there’s a new opportunity to explore and ride.

Onean is mostly in Europe at the moment, but they are slowly moving to the U.S. and their website is the best place to get more information on where to get a test ride.

We will hopefully be doing a more thorough test drive for you later in the year.

 Gladiator® Beverage Center

Do you know my neighbor Mike?

Mike hangs out in his garage. He watches baseball, talks to neighbors and drinks beer. That’s his outdoor thing.

If you’re a garage hangerouter like Mike, then Gladiator Garage Works has the ultimate refrigerator to help you enjoy your pastime.

The Gladiator® Beverage Center is a garage-ready drink cooler built to handle up to 154 12-ounce cans of your favorite beverage, which is great so you don’t have to worry about running low in the middle of a game.

It doesn’t matter what season you’re hanging out in the garage, because it is also built to handle extreme outdoor temperatures (from 0-110 degrees Fahrenheit). It features a tempered glass door and adjustable interior shelves for versatility. The top of this counter-height refrigerator holds up to 200 pounds.

Casters can lock it into place or you can wheel it to the center of the room and use it as a table, chair, or place to hold the bratwursts.

Rumor has it, it can hold other things than beer as well.

Therabody RecoveryAir PRO System Gen 1

You’ve been outside doing all the things and now it’s time to treat your muscles and blood cells to a little TLC.

RecoveryAir PRO System Gen 1 is one of the most customizable pneumatic recovery compression systems on the market and it can travel with you.

Pneumatic compression is something the world’s top athletes have been using for years to help cut down on their recovery time between workouts, clinically proven technology increases circulation and reduces soreness in the body.

More to the point, pneumatic compression is essentially a mechanical massage that uses air to squeeze the legs’ muscles in an attempt to increase blood flow. It’s a technique typically used to prevent DVT (deep vein thrombosis) and blood clots but is also said to boost circulation, decrease swelling, and reduce muscle soreness, hence its use here as a sports recovery tool.

The Therabody RecoveryAir PRO System Gen 1 does all of that and also has several different modes from warm-up to complete recovery that you can use at home, before an event, or pretty much anywhere. You can control everything from the easy-to-use app as well.

Their base station is chargeable, so you are able to charge it up, unplug from the wall, and take it with you to get ready or recover. It’s not just for the legs, though. They have an upper-body compression vest that helps you get a full-body recovery experience so you can be ready to go out on the next adventure.

PAKMULE Carrier

You have all the stuff; now it’s time to haul it around.

Made and manufactured in New Braunfels, Texas, by a guy named Kansas, it doesn’t get more American Made than that.

Since 2012, PAKMULE has taken the simple idea of a car carrier and changed the game with a lightweight, strong, easy-to-use carrier that fits your unique lifestyle.

From fishing and mountain biking to hauling a lot of stuff, Pakmule has the attachment and the capacity to keep you on the move and your car clutter-free.

The Pakmule Original is a 100% aluminum, TIG-welded hitch-mount cargo carrier boasting nearly 12 square feet of cargo space. Weighing a mere 42 pounds, yet burly enough to haul 500 lbs of cargo, it features a patented anti-wobble locking design, which ensures that cargo stays safe and secure, even on the rowdiest roads.

Got a Ford Bronco or a Jeep? Then you know the headaches the spare tire on the back can cause. The Sway Back carrier features the same burly TIG-welded quality and huge size as the original, but with a lower rail height to accommodate 35-inch spare tires, swing-open doors on vans, tailgate on 200 series Land Cruisers, and other space restrictions above your receiver hitch without needing a hitch extension!
