In 2014, Amazon spent $970 million to buy the video game streaming service Twitch. At the time, it sounded a bit absurd. However, as of July 2014, the site had over 15 billion minutes of content, with users spending over 100 minutes a day on the site according to Business Insider.
Today, those numbers have only grown. Per their website, the site receives 15 million daily users who individually view an average of 106 minutes of content per day. The streaming service also has over 2.2 million unique content creators per month. Who could possibly spend that much time streaming and watching video games? Just ask the members of DownToQuest, the streaming house that has turned gaming into a full-time job. How does one spend a whole day playing video games? We were curious as well. That’s why we caught up with some of the members of DownToQuest at Dreamhack 2017. In between streaming sessions, which of course they were doing at the event, we had the opportunity to talk with the members about video game streaming and what exactly a streaming house is.
