CES 2019 is officially upon us. As the largest tech conference in the world, CES drew nearly 200,000 attendees in 2018 and looks to be even bigger this year. With guests like Shark Tank’s Daymond John, Steve Harvey, Lupe Fiasco, and more, CES 2019 will be one for the books. We’re lucky enough to get to provide coverage throughout the week, so make sure to stay tuned to our social media channels for all of our CES 2019 updates.
Last year, we had the opportunity to meet Neil Patrick Harris, play Scrabble with a robot, and test drive the 2018 Nissan Leaf. With the event officially kicking off tomorrow, the possibilities seem endless. Here is what we’re most excited to see this year.
Anthony’s Robotic Rematch
Last year, Associate Editor Anthony Elio visited the OMRON booth to take on FORPHEUS, the AI-equipped Ping-Pong robot. After many long rallies, Anthony and FORPHEUS eventually ended in what seemed to be a stalemate. Until now.
At CES 2019, Anthony will be returning to the OMRON booth to once again to challenge FORPHEUS to a game of Ping-Pong. Surely both parties have been training all year, and you’ll have to stay tuned to see who comes out on top.
Robots, Robots, and More Robots!
It seems that each year, robots and artificial intelligence become more and more of a focus at CES. From customer service to companionship, robots abound. This year the trend continues and we’ll have the pleasure of meeting a number of these electronic companions.
We’ll be introduced to LIKU, who claims to be the first friend robot. We’ll also visit Temi, who is less humanoid but a bit more utilitarian. With so many robots at CES 2019, it’s hard to predict who else we might run into.
Smart Home Tech Takeover
Smart home technology is starting to integrate itself into every house. As devices like smart speakers and security systems have become more widely available, people are becoming more accustomed to this technology in the home. CES 2019 will show just how popular and innovative this sector is.
A number of events and talks at CES are dedicated to smart home technology. From “Connecting Objects, Homes and Cities” and “New Habit: Smart Speakers & A Voice-Activated Life” to “Smart Home Applications to Improve Well-Being,” there are a variety of opportunities at CES to learn the latest in voice, security, and smart technology in the home.
Attendees will be able to visit myriad exhibitors (i.e., Fibaro, Nortek Security & Control, Ring, Honeywell) showing off products for every room of the house. Some of the big players will be in attendance as well, like GE and Google, showing off their latest offerings for the home of the future.
Everything Else
If you’ve attended CES in the past, you understand that it sometimes seems like an endless stream of booths and technology. Given that, we’ll be covering all kinds of gadgets and innovations this week at CES 2019.
From foldable smartphones and 10K televisions to virtual reality and the latest in automobiles, we’ll see it all. Stay tuned to Innovation & Tech Today to keep updated on all of the latest, most innovative, and unique tech coming out of CES 2019.
