Widespread Facebook and Instagram Disruptions for Users

Popular Meta platforms, Facebook and Instagram, experienced widespread service disruptions during the morning hours of Mar. 5. Per Downdetector, more than 500,000 Facebook users had issues logging into their profiles and accessing their feeds.

An additional 10,000 people struggled with using Facebook Messenger. Around 50,000 Instagram users also encountered disruptions while trying to use the social platform.

It’s been reported that users have found their accounts automatically logged out with issues getting logged back in. Others have found the “something went wrong” notification on the home page with no way to check or refresh their feeds.

The Meta’s status page cited “major disruptions” impacting Facebook login and other areas of the social platform.

Meta spokesperson Andy Stone posted on X addressing the issue: “We’re aware people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on this now.”
