Full Video Transcript: How Researchers are Using Your Harry Potter Quiz Results

Welcome to QuickBytes, where we give you your tech and science news quick, fast, and swiftly. My name is Anthony, and my Harry Potter fanfiction got me banned from the public library.

Random Librarian: Then get the f@%k out of my library.

And speaking of Harry Potter, today’s story deals with how an online Harry Potter quiz led to broader economic discoveries.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the first book, TIME Magazine teamed up with Cambridge scientists in order to devise a specialized quiz to place users into one of the main Hogwarts houses. At the time of the time of this recording, it’s been taken almost 2 million times.

In case you were wondering, I’m actually a Hufflepuff, which explains my hardworking nature and dramatic mood swings when I’m off camera.

Anthony is just a big bag of mixed emotions.

Interestingly enough, it’s been reported that the results of this quiz have revealed some interesting data. For example, did you know that areas with a high concentration of Gryffindors actually results in low survival rates for start ups?

Now this does explain Harry Potter’s failed line of VHS rental stores after he graduated from Hogwarts.

Does this mean the next time you take a Golden Girls quiz, that data will be used for research? Make sure to let us know in the comments below.
