CES is unveiling some incredible products this year, with companies from across the globe showcasing their most innovative and showstopping tech. KODAK is premiering several new products, with offerings that are both nostalgic and cutting edge.
This morning, KODAK revealed its new SMILE line of instant-print cameras and mobile printers. Included in their new line are the Classic Instant Print Camera, the Instant Printer, and the Instant Print Digital Camera. KODAK is also hedging its bets with products geared toward archiving film photography, including the Mini Digital Film Scanner, the 35mm Slide Viewer, and the Mobile Film Scanner. KODAK has even more tricks up their sleeve this year, launching a new line of projectors: the LUMA 75, the LUMA 150, and the LUMA 350.
The KODAK SMILE Classic Instant Print Camera
The SMILE line from KODAK seems to be focused on providing contemporary convenience in nostalgic packaging. Their Classic Instant Print Camera combines top-tier image capturing technology with instant print capability to create a camera with vintage aesthetics and modern image quality. KODAK updated this classic shoot-and-print design by adding BLUETOOTH capabilities, allowing users to wirelessly print images taken on their smartphones via a free app.
The KODAK SMILE Instant Printer
Believe it or not, those candid selfies and thrilling group photos from the office Christmas party don’t have to remain locked in your smartphone. Thanks to KODAK’s new Instant Printer, that awkward moment under the mistletoe with Tom from Accounting can be forever immortalized on a 2”x 3” sticky-backed print. The free Instant Print companion app is compatible with both iOS and Android devices with BLUETOOTH capability. Aside from the inconvenience of buying pricey sticky-backed photo paper, this printer provides a fun alternative to printing your photos at the pharmacy.
KODAK SMILE Instant Print Digital Camera
The last addition to the SMILE line of products is the 10 megapixel KODAK SMILE Instant Print Digital Camera. With its slide-open design and old-school LCD viewfinder, this instant camera provides the accessibility of a smartphone without the drudgery of maxed-out photo storage. Use in combination with the Instant Printer to easily capture and print your precious memories.
KODAK Film to Digital Accessories
Some of KODAK’s other new products are designed to preserve the past with the help of new, easier-to-use technology. Their Mini Digital Film Scanner, for instance, allows users to scan, edit, and save film negatives onto an SD card. The scanner offers 128MB of internal memory as well as a USB cable for easy memory transfer from scanner to computer.
KODAK is also offering a 35mm Slide Viewer. Though the pool of people using slides or negatives is dwindling, there is still a niche audience of consumers who are looking for ways to revive old memories and make them relevant for the digital age. KODAK answers that call with a portable slide viewer that amplifies slides up to three times their original size.
KODAK LUMA Projector Series
For more than 130 years, KODAK has largely focused on photography and film. This year, the company is foraying into the competitive world of image projection, offering three new projectors at CES 2019. The LUMA 75 is a lightweight 75-lumen display portable projector for surfaces up to 80”. Quiet and simple to set up, the LUMA 75 promises to be as versatile as it is vivid.
The LUMA 150 is almost twice as vibrant as the LUMA 75, offering a 150-lumen display and the ability to cast up to 150” images. It resides in the middle ground of KODAK’s projectors, sandwiched between the LUMA 75 and the LUMA 350. The 350 displays a brilliant 350-lumens and can project high-quality imagery up to 200”. The 350 is compatible with 4K video and offers 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM. The Android operating system built into the projector gives users the ability to browse the web or download all variety of apps, like Netflix or Hulu.
