Colorado elected officials, entrepreneurs, and executives will officially launch a new state holiday—Buy Colorado Day—at 3:03 p.m. today at a press conference on the west steps of the State Capitol building.
Buy Colorado Day (and Buy Colorado Week) is a new state holiday dedicated to celebrating Colorado brands and businesses and strengthening the state’s economy. Officially designated by the State Legislature, Buy Colorado Day transforms the state’s unofficial 303 Day tradition into an annual movement that unites consumers globally in support of Colorado-rooted brands and businesses.
“Buy Colorado Day isn’t just about shopping—it’s about investing in the trend-setting businesses that make our state such a brilliant place to live and work,” said Buy Colorado Day Founder Ricardo Baca, who also founded Colorado businesses including PR and marketing agency Grasslands: A Journalism-Minded Agency, Denver music festival the Underground Music Showcase, Colorado fine art biennial Biome and is also a lifelong Coloradan. “By making intentional choices to support Colorado businesses, we’re keeping money in our communities, creating jobs, and ensuring that Colorado brands continue to thrive—both here at home and on a global scale.”

Speaking alongside Baca at today’s press conference are Colorado Senate President James Coleman and a number of executives representing some of Buy Colorado Day’s Official Launch Partners, including Outside Inc. Founder Robin Thurston, Topo Designs CEO Matt Williams and Stranahan’s Brand Home Manager Samuel Gentry.
Working toward its formal launch in March 2026, Buy Colorado Day’s other Official Launch Partners include PopSockets, the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade, Icelantic, Westbound & Down, Never Summer, and Grasslands—a.k.a. “Colorado’s agency of record.”
“At Topo Designs, we take pride in creating gear that is rooted in Colorado’s outdoor heritage but designed for adventurers everywhere,” said Topo Designs CEO Matt Williams. “Buy Colorado Day is a great opportunity to showcase the spirit of our home state and connect with the global community that embraces this mountain-inspired lifestyle.”
Buy Colorado Day supports the Centennial State’s diverse local economy though a unique commerce-focused holiday that is purposefully set during a quiet retail season, establishing an attention-grabbing shopping milestone that drives revenue when businesses need it most. The 3/03 date is also a reference to 303 Day, an informal holiday named for Colorado’s original statewide area code.
“As a brand born right here in the heart of Colorado, we’ve experienced the magic of local love firsthand,” said Rodrigo Braun, Distillery Brand Experience Director at Stranahan’s parent company Proximo Spirits. “It’s what fuels our growth and keeps us grounded. That’s why Buy Colorado Day is a chance to not just celebrate, but supercharge the connections that make our community thrive.”
Colorado is home to over 700,000 small businesses, including 13,000 restaurants and taverns, 500 craft breweries and distilleries, nine Fortune 500 companies and countless creators, makers, retailers and service providers.
