Korea Lighting demonstrates how functional light is moving beyond traditional LED applications into brain wellness and daily health. The company, with more than 15 years of research and development, is using its proprietary semiconductor platform to deliver non-contact photobiomodulation (PBM) in a home-friendly format. Its latest product, Neurélux, is designed to support cognitive function, focus, and overall mental clarity.
Despite some early misconceptions, Neurélux is not a medical treatment device, and it does not claim to cure dementia. CEO YD Kim said the device is meant as a daily wellness tool that improves cerebral blood flow, focus, memory comfort, and sleep quality. “It does not replace clinical equipment but serves as an everyday wellness tool for brain health,” Kim said. While clinical studies may explore therapeutic uses in the future, the current product is intended for safe, regular use at home.
The HS FRAME Advantage

Neurélux is powered by Korea Lighting’s HS FRAME semiconductor platform, which sets it apart from conventional PBM or red-light devices. Effective PBM requires precise wavelength stability, high optical power, and adequate exposure time. Traditional LEDs often overheat in small devices, leading to chip degradation and shifts in wavelength that reduce efficacy.
HS FRAME integrates the LED chip, circuitry, and thermal path into a single structure, minimizing heat and maintaining stable output. Kim explained the technology “resolves heat within the structure itself, drastically lowering total heat generation. It’s like building a direct highway for heat instead of forcing it through congested roads.”
The technology has been internationally verified. It holds Korea’s top certifications, including NET and NEP, has twice won the Jang Young-Shil Award, and is patented in seven countries, including the United States and major European markets. HS FRAME has been commercially applied in sanitation lighting, beauty devices, and public lighting for more than eight years.
Neurélux uses 810nm and 1064nm infrared wavelengths. The 810nm wavelength stimulates mitochondrial ATP production, while 1064nm penetrates the skull to enhance cerebral blood flow. HS FRAME enables precise optical synchronization of both wavelengths, delivering the correct ratio deep into tissue without generating excess heat. The result supports neuronal protection, mitochondrial activation, and cognitive function in a safe, home-friendly format.
My Review Day with Korea’s Next Phase of Innovation

Spending time in Seoul has a way of sharpening your perspective on where technology is actually heading—not just in pitch decks, but in practical, deployable solutions. During a recent Global Media Review Day, I joined fellow international media to evaluate… Continue reading
Seamless Daily Use
A common problem with home healthcare devices is inconsistent use. Korea Lighting addresses this with “Ambient Healthcare.” Neurélux is non-wearable and non-contact. “No helmets, no covering your eyes. You simply place it on your desk or bedside and turn it on like a lamp,” Kim said. The device is designed to integrate naturally into users’ routines, promoting consistent daily use without requiring behavioral changes.

Users report a gentle warmth during sessions and often feel mentally clear and comfortable afterward. While PBM does not deliver electrical stimulation, Kim said he has personally observed improvements in focus and memory among users, including his father, who has dementia. “Seeing him recall events from several days ago makes me incredibly proud,” he said.
Neurélux is safe for daily use. It employs non-laser, non-UV, near-infrared light, and studies recommend three to five sessions per week. HS FRAME prevents chip degradation and wavelength shifts, ensuring users receive consistent, effective PBM. The device meets international photobiological safety standards, and users do not need protective goggles unless staring directly at the light source.
Global Ambitions
Korea Lighting is targeting markets with growing home healthcare demand, with the United States as a top priority. The company is exploring partnerships with home healthcare organizations, and the CES trade show will serve as a platform to expand global distribution, certifications, and collaborations.
The company is also open to B2B partnerships, offering HS FRAME modules or full functional-light solutions to manufacturers in medical devices, smart furniture, and agricultural equipment. Kim said Korea Lighting prefers to co-design full solutions rather than just supplying components, ensuring optimal performance for partners and end users.
Neurélux represents the first step in a broader strategy. Korea Lighting plans to expand into agricultural and sanitation lighting, applying the HS FRAME platform to deliver high-output, thermally stable, and wavelength-precise LEDs in compact environments. The technology offers significant efficiency improvements, including over 50% higher performance in agricultural applications compared with existing solutions.
A Platform for the Future

Neurélux reflects Korea Lighting’s human-centric design philosophy. The device looks like an elegant home object, not a clinical machine. “We design for the person, not the patient,” Kim said. “Place it like a light, benefit like a device.” The goal is to make professional-grade PBM accessible and aesthetically integrated into daily life.
HS FRAME is a platform technology, not a single-product solution. By adjusting wavelength and output, it can be applied to multiple functional-light applications from antimicrobial 405nm lighting to 660/850nm skin-care LEDs and infrared ranges for brain PBM. Korea Lighting aims to create a functional-light ecosystem spanning healthcare, wellness, agriculture, sanitation, and industrial applications.
Kim said the company’s long-term vision is ambitious: “Light is not just illumination—it is a technology that transforms health, environment, and industry. Neurélux is the first step. We will continue building a broader functional-light ecosystem in healthcare and wellness.”
Korea Lighting is demonstrating that professional-quality photobiomodulation can be safe, effective, and seamlessly integrated into daily life. The company could redefine how people experience light, transforming it from a simple illumination tool into a device that promotes health and well-being.
