The analysis shows distinct variations in platform distribution, completion rates, and total playtime across the selected titles:

The “Game Pass Effect” on Playtime

While average playtime remained relatively consistent across most platforms, games included in the Game Pass library (Clair Obscur and Silksong) showed a lower overall average playtime. This suggests that while the service lowers the barrier to entry, many users “tried” the games briefly before moving on.

Interestingly, when narrowing the scope to users who actually finished the games, Xbox players recorded higher average playtimes than their counterparts on other platforms.

Completion Rates

Completion rates were calculated based on earned “Ending” achievements (Nintendo Switch data was excluded due to the lack of a native achievement system). Data showed high engagement on PlayStation: over half of the users who played Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, and Ghost of Yotei reached the final credits.

Minimap also examined how many of the Top 5 titles individual users played:

  • 1+ Titles: 20.2% of the user base played at least one game from the list.
  • 2+ Titles: 9.2% played two or more.
  • All 5 Titles: Only 0.3% played the entire Top 5 list.

The low percentage of “all-in” players suggests that the 2025 Top 5 consisted of diverse genres that didn’t necessarily appeal to a single, monolithic audience. Furthermore, the 20.2% engagement rate for new titles is slightly higher than Steam’s internal metric of 14% for new release engagement, indicating that Minimap’s core users are slightly more trend-aligned than the general market.
