Lexington’s New Tourism Campaign Invites Aliens

VisitLex has begun a new tourism endeavor, described as “the world’s first interstellar travel ad,” by transmitting a message into outer space to possible aliens in collaboration with local scientists and scholars.

The communication sends a warm invitation to potential extraterrestrial visitors, encouraging them to explore the wonders of Lexington.

Addressing potential aliens, the message from VisitLex exclaims, “Aliens, if you’re out there, greetings! This is your guide to experiencing the Horse Capital of the Galaxy. We think it’s well worth the 235 trillion-mile trip.”

The transmission was directed toward the Trappist-1 star system, approximately 40 light years away. This star system has hosting planets within a “habitable zone,” making it a likely target for alien exploration within the lifetime of Lexington’s residents.

“Lexington would be a great place to make first contact. You can land your spacecraft here. You can see the Bluegrass. You may even be able to ride a horse, depending on how big you are,” said Expert in Computer Engineering and SETI Dr. Robert Lodder.

The transmitted message includes a bitmap key featuring prime numbers, elements essential for life, molecules of water and ethanol (key components of bourbon production), dopamine, depictions of horses, and the bluegrass landscape of Lexington. Additionally, the communication incorporates a selection of images showcasing the city and an audio recording by Tee Dee Young, a revered blues musician from the area.
