Headphones Review: The Klipsch X6i and the Klipsch AW-49

We’ve reviewed two Klipsch ear bud pairs that come in at opposite ends of the spectrum to help you make a decision based on your lifestyle:

Klipsch X6i

X6i-Black-1

The new X6i headphones from Klipsch pack a big punch in a diminutive package. The result of painstaking design research with a mind toward comfort, the X6i features a compact, streamlined bud that creates the feeling of a bespoke fit. The headphones come with multiple ear tips to ensure an ideal seal regardless of the shape of your ear. Finding the right tip also means that you won’t lose any bass once the bud is locked in.

Now the real question. Do all of these features result in a great listening experience? The answer is an unequivocal yes. These sleek bad boys deliver incredible sound despite their compact size. The bass booms without overpowering vocals to create a superior sound signature. The result is a crisp, pure sound that perfectly layers crystal clear vocals over vibrant music.

The headphones also come with a few extras, which is a nice touch. In the box you will receive a clothing clip to secure the cord, four extra ear tip sets, and a supple carrying case that can be quickly slipped in your pocket to prevent the dreaded knot that headphones inevitably work themselves into in the span of a few seconds in your pocket.

Klipsch AW-4i

AW-4i-Black-v01-1

Klipsch has taken a more rugged approach with their AW-4i model and created a pair of headphones that are ready to stand up to tough treatment. The headphones were designed with active people in mind and the features are ready to keep you bumpin’ in the most demanding conditions. An all-weather design means you don’t have to worry about a little rain or snow ruining your listening experience.

Over-sized play/pause and volume controls connected to the cord mean that you won’t need to remove your gloves, much less take out your device to make adjustments. Klipsch has also included their patented oval shaped ear tips to ensure that the buds won’t slip out of your ear even after rigorous movement. They provide three extra pairs of tips to fit almost any ear size comfortably.

The buds create a clear and vibrant sound and do a great job of cancelling outside noise when sealed properly in your ear. The bass womps just the way you would expect from a high quality manufacturer like Klipsh. These headphones come in at a very affordable price point compared to other Klispsch buds, so they are a win-win in terms of sound and spends.
